Papaoutai and YouTube Embeds
Part of the goal with this post is to test the functionality of YouTube videos embedded in-line with blog posts.
Are you familiar with the music of Stromae? If not, he's well worth your time. His song "Papaoutai" was my introduction to him, and I find it to be excellent:
If you don't speak French, I encourage you to watch it with translated subtitles -- I think it's a powerful and moving song.
It's been covered a number of times -- Pentatonix collabed with Lindsey Stirling a number of years ago on a cover, and recently there has been an afro-soul cover of it that has been making waves.
There is a lot that can be said about this rendition, but one of the most important pieces is that this is not an organic composition, but was (apparently) created in no small part with generative-AI.
I was pretty stunned when I found this out, and for as many (dozens) of times that I've listened to this rendition, I am unable to detect the seams. It's pieces like this that challenge my assumptions about the quality of "art" that can be created with generative AI, and I feel that it leaves me with more questions than answers.
